Puck LED Gen 3

RGBW puck lighting engineered for real outdoor installs

Gen 3 is not a commodity puck. It is a complete outdoor platform with gold internal wiring, per-puck surge protection, IP68 sealing, UL and cUL compliance, convex optics, and pixel-level app control built into every single module.

RGBW

What is an RGBW light?

RGBW means each fixture mixes red, green, and blue for full-colour scenes, and includes a dedicated white LED. That white channel gives you clean architectural whites and soft pastels without the muddy “RGB white” you get from blending only red, green, and blue.

Two white diodes, warm and cool, let you tune house trim from candlelight amber to crisp daylight, with full RGB on the same puck when you want holidays, sports, or colour-chase effects.

Core engineering pillars

Six reasons this puck outlasts everything else on the market

Most permanent lighting fails because of what is inside the puck, not what is around it. Cheap wiring corrodes. Unprotected modules let one surge destroy an entire run. Weak seals let moisture in during the first Alberta winter. Gen 3 was engineered from the inside out to eliminate every one of those failure points.

Gold Internal Wiring

Why it matters

Most pucks use bare copper internally. Copper oxidizes over time, especially outdoors. That oxidation degrades the signal path, which means colours start shifting, flickering appears, and modules fail earlier than they should. Gold does not oxidize. It maintains a stable, corrosion-free contact surface year after year, which keeps colour output accurate and data transmission clean across every puck in the run. This is the difference between a system that looks the same in year five as it did on install day, and one that slowly degrades.

Per-Puck Surge Protection

Why it matters

On most systems, a single power surge can cascade through the entire string and destroy every connected module at once. That turns a minor electrical event into a full system replacement. Gen 3 puts surge protection inside each individual puck. When a spike hits, it gets clamped right there at the module level. The puck absorbs it, the neighbours stay untouched, and worst case you replace one puck instead of rebuilding the whole run. This is critical in Calgary where Chinook wind storms and grid fluctuations are common.

True IP68 Weather Sealing

Why it matters

IP65 or IP44 rated pucks can handle light rain but fail under standing water, ice buildup, or repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Calgary goes through all of those, often in the same week. IP68 is the highest ingress protection rating, meaning the puck is sealed against total dust ingress and continuous water immersion. That level of protection is what keeps moisture out of the housing when ice melts during a January Chinook and refreezes the next night. Without it, water gets inside, expands when it freezes, and cracks the housing or shorts the board.

UL and cUL Compliance

Why it matters

Many outdoor LED products are sold with no recognized safety listing, or with certifications that only apply to individual components in a lab. UL and cUL listing means the complete installed system has been evaluated for safety under real-world conditions, including wiring, power supply, and weatherproofing working together. File Number E483482, Document IFDR7.E483482. This listing protects you, your home, and your insurance coverage. It also means the product meets Canadian electrical safety standards, not just generic import specs.

Convex Wide-Beam Lens

Why it matters

Flat-face LEDs throw a narrow beam straight down, creating bright hot spots directly below each puck and dark gaps in between. The result is an uneven, striped look on your facade. The Gen 3 convex lens spreads light into a wide, even cone that washes the wall smoothly from puck to puck. This is what gives the roofline a consistent, professional glow instead of a row of individual dots. It also pushes light further outward and downward, so you get better yard coverage without needing more modules.

Pixel-Level App Control

Why it matters

On cheaper systems, lights are controlled in groups or zones with limited precision. Gen 3 makes every single puck individually addressable through the GOULY app. That means you can set one puck to warm white and the next to red without affecting anything else on the run. It enables detailed scenes, smooth colour transitions, zone effects, and holiday animations that actually look intentional. It also makes troubleshooting fast. If something seems off, you can test any specific puck from your phone without climbing a ladder or disrupting the rest of the system.
