The GOULY system is rated for 50,000 hours. At 7 hours per night, that is roughly 25 years of maintenance-free use.
Rated for 50,000+ hours. At 8 hours per day that is over 17 years. At 4 hours per day, over 34 years. The aluminium track and IP68 sealing are engineered for even longer.

Engineered durability
50,000 hours is the LED rating, but the system's real lifespan depends on how every component handles Calgary's unique conditions: Chinook freeze-thaw, minus 40 winters, high-altitude UV, and 100+ km/h winds.
Each RGBW puck is rated for 50,000+ hours. At 8 hours/day, that is 17+ years. At 4 hours/day, 34+ years. Gold internal wiring prevents the oxidation that causes premature colour shift and flickering in copper-wired LEDs.
High-grade, corrosion-resistant aluminium does not rot, warp, crack, or degrade from UV. Made in Calgary and engineered for local conditions. Plastic alternatives become brittle and crack within 3-5 years of Alberta sun.
The number one killer of outdoor electronics is moisture intrusion. IP68 sealing at every LED puck, connection point, and cable gland prevents moisture from ever entering the system. This is why IP44 and IP65 competitors fail in 2-5 years.
Calgary Chinook storms bring power grid fluctuations. Per-puck surge protection clamps voltage spikes at the individual module level. If a spike damages one puck, the parallel circuit design keeps all other LEDs running.
If one LED fails in year 12, you replace that one puck for a few dollars. The track, wiring, and every other LED stay untouched. Competitors using string-wired LEDs require replacing entire sections.
Calgary's high altitude means intense UV radiation. The LED housings and track are UV-stabilized to resist yellowing, seal failure, and brittleness that destroy cheaper materials.

Lifespan comparison
LED lifespan
1-3 seasons (string lights) / 3-5 yr (cheap permanent)
50,000+ hours (17-34 years)
Track/mount lifespan
Adhesive fails 2-5 yr, clips break
Aluminium screwed to fascia (indefinite)
Seal integrity
IP44/IP65 degrades in 2-3 yr
IP68 rated for continuous submersion
Failure recovery
Replace entire string or section
Replace one puck, rest unaffected
UV resistance
Yellows, cracks, becomes brittle
UV-stabilized for high-altitude Alberta sun
Internal wiring
Copper (oxidizes, causes failure)
Gold (corrosion-free for life)
