Why 9 inches is the correct distance for 24V RGBW pucks

Spacing is not arbitrary. It is calculated from the LED's brightness, beam angle, and colour separation requirements. The Gen 3 convex lens optics are specifically designed for 9-inch mounting.

Gen 3 pucks use convex lens optics that spread light into a wide, even cone. The beam pattern is designed so adjacent 9-inch-spaced pucks overlap just enough for smooth illumination without hot spots or dark gaps.

Colour beam bleeding at tighter spacing

When RGBW LEDs are too close, adjacent colour beams overlap and mix. Greens blur into cyan/teal with blues. Reds blur into purple haze with blues. At 9 inches, each puck's colour cone stays defined.

24V brightness supports 9 inches

The 24V system produces higher lumens than 12V competitors. This extra brightness means the beam reaches full coverage at 9 inches. Dimmer 12V systems would show visible dark spots at this spacing.

Pattern clarity depends on spacing
